The New York Times released a list of the 10 best films of the year, which combined productions from various genres, such as action, drama and horror. Among the most prominent films, a Brazilian film also earned a place in the rankings.
First place went to SinnersA horror film directed by Ryan Coogler which, in addition to receiving rave reviews, also had a great performance at the box office. The film revolves around two twin brothers who try to leave a troubled past behind them and return to their hometown in search of a new beginning. However, when they arrive at the site, they discover that a greater evil awaits them.

Second place went to battle after battle, Which tells the story of a former member of a revolutionary group who seeks help from former allies to find his missing daughter.
Brazilian film The Secret Agent, by Kleber Mendonça Filho, appears at number eight. The film starring Wagner Moura is set in 1977 and tells the story of Marcelo, a technology teacher who tries to escape a violent and mysterious past by moving from São Paulo to Recife, in hopes of rebuilding his life.
