
The Inter-Institutional Commission for the Recovery of Assets of the State of Mato Grosso (Cira-MT) completed, on Tuesday (2/12), another phase of the Return to Cash operation, targeting a business group, known as the “Agricultural Giant”, in the grain industry and trading sector suspected of carrying out multi-million dollar tax fraud.
The judicial decision, issued by the Justice 4.0 Center of the Guarantees Judge, in Cuiabá, specified the freezing of values, the seizure of property and the restriction of vehicles via the Renagood system, preventing the sale or transfer of assets.

The aim is to ensure that assets remain available for potential repayment to the public treasury.
Investigations conducted by the Financial Crimes Police Center (Devas), with technical support from the Finance Department (Sefaz-MT) and a statement from the State Prosecutor’s Office, indicate signs of omission of tax records, irregular bookkeeping, and misuse of benefits from the Industrial and Commercial Development Program (Prodic).
The frauds could have generated final tax debts of more than R$33 million related to ICMS that went uncollected between 2012 and 2016.
Delegate Walter de Mello Fonseca Jr., from the Ministry of Finance, said that the blockade demonstrates the state’s firm and strategic position in the face of major debtors.
“This process prevents illicit assets from disappearing before they are paid off. It is an essential step to strengthen tax justice and protect the Mato Grosso community,” he stated.
Washington Attorney General Eduardo Purrier, from the Office of the Public Prosecutor for Crimes against the Tax System, highlighted the results obtained through joint work.
“Integration within Cira has been key in breaking down complex schemes and ensuring that misappropriated amounts return to the public purse,” he said.
Cira-MT brings together the State Public Ministry, the State Prosecutor’s Office, the State Comptroller’s Office, the Public Security Secretariat, the Civil Police and the Financial Secretariat. The group is constantly working to combat tax evasion and recover embezzled assets.
