The Army pays tribute to the Immaculate Conception, patroness of the infantry

The building of Captaincy General of Seville, headquarters of the Land Forcehosted this Monday a military event chaired by Major General Alberto García Romera, Chief of General Staff of the Land Force, in honor of the Immaculate Conception, … boss of the Fundamental Specialty of Infantry of the General Corps of the Army, the Military Legal Corps and Military Chaplains.

The Immaculate Conception was officially declared patroness of the Spanish infantry in 1892.although unofficially since 1585 he was revered and considered as such by the units of said arm.

As is tradition on this date, the Spanish infantry celebrates the feast of its patron saint. It is for this reason that a military act took place, to which the civil and military authorities of Seville participatedas well as the staff who celebrate the patronage of the Immaculate Conception.

The event began with the arrival of the authority, during which the regulatory honors were presented. Then the anniversary of December 8, 1585 was read and of the royal decree which names the Immaculate Conception as patroness of the Spanish infantry.

Subsequently, and after the speech given by General García Romera, the personnel of this headquarters were honored, who during the year went into reserve, finally surrendering totribute to those who gave their lives for Spain and the event ended with the singing of the infantry anthem.
