
An earlier investigation was launched against “named yet-to-be-identified officials” of the Adaptation Fund after possible irregularities were identified in contracts that had previously recorded 0% budget execution, according to the measure announced by the Attorney General’s Office.
The Third Assistant Attorney General’s Office for State Procurement stated that, according to information disseminated in various media, the contracts examined correspond to the Hidrodinámica, Senderos para la Paz and Mojana la Ruta del Arroz projects, whose total value exceeds one hundred billion pesos.

In parallel, the control body plans to analyze complaints about possible interference and political pressure from leaders of different municipalities in the awarding of these contracts in which the San José Foundation is mentioned, as well as alleged actions to influence the supervisory work in favor of the contractor.
By opening this disciplinary procedure, the State Ministry would like to determine whether the facts constituted negligence and clarify whether there were grounds for exemption from liability, which is why it ordered the collection of evidence as part of the investigation.
“The disciplinary action taken by the State Department is aimed at determining the incident of conduct and whether it acted on the basis of a disclaimer for which it ordered evidence to be taken,” the company said in a statement on the matter.
