The concert will be given by the Orfeó Valencià under the direction of Josep Lluís Valldecabres. The proposal includes a program with pieces ranging from the polyphonic richness of the 17th century to the contemporary harmonies of the 20th century. The selection of works seeks to capture the timeless essence of these dates and show how the spirit of Christmas has been interpreted in various ways by composers from different eras such as John Reading, Michael Praetorius, Jesús Ribera Faig, George F. Handel, César Franck, Mykola Leontovych, Rebecca Dale, Ernest Cervera, John Rutter, César Alejandro Carrillo, Irving Berlin, Eric Whitacre, Josep Ll. Valldecabres, Matilde Salvador and Franz X. Gruber.
The recital will feature the instrumental accompaniment of Jesús Debón on piano, Alexander Goroshilov on oboe, Rubén Velasco on Venezuelan cuatro and Fernando Morales on percussion, who will be joined by the solo voices of sopranos Gema Rubio and Isabel M. Gracián.
He Orfeó Valencia He was born in Valencia in 1972 and since then he has collaborated with the main Valencian and Spanish orchestras, as well as with the Academy of Saint Martin of the Fields or the Orchestra of the Academy of Santa Cecília in Rome. He has performed on stages all over the world and his repertoire addresses the most representative music and composers from the Renaissance to the present day, with a particular presence of Valencian authors.
The concert will take place on Friday December 19 at 8 p.m. in the Church of the Patriarchate. Access is freesubject to availability, with prior collection of invitations at the Bancaja Foundation (Plaza Tetuán, 23) from Tuesday December 16 at 5 p.m.
