The base of the Cristo de Gracia de Cordoba finds the contrasts between gold and black

If the image is important, the element that supports it is crucial. The pedestal of the Blessed Sacrament Christ of Grace finds all the contrast between its golden and black areas.

The Cristo de Gracia brotherhood announced this Saturday … at noon on new look of this room in the chapel of its owners, in the parish of Notre-Dame de Grâce, after the mass on the feast of Saint John the Evangelist.

The restorer José Luis Ojeda started his work in January 2025 carrying out general cleaning. He repaired the different parts, repaired the Shame and cracks, it replaces the detached volumes, reinstates the polychromy and gilds certain areas.

The work, carried out in his workshop in Andújar for twelve months, was possible thanks to a grant of 5,546 euros for the restoration of the brotherhood’s heritage for the year 2024, financed by the Provincial Deputation of Córdoba.

The base will remain exposed in the chapel of Cristo de Gracia so that all the faithful can see in detail how it happened. It is a heritage asset created thanks to popular subscriptions around 200 years ago, as detailed to ABC by the elder brother of Christ de Gracia, Jose Maria Gisbert. The exact date and author are unknown.

The president of the Provincial Delegation of Córdoba, Salvador Fuentes, attended the mass and participated in the presentation that followed.
