We can say loud and clear that Spain It is a country with a great cheese tradition and known internationally. Within our borders, cheeses are produced that have won numerous national and foreign awards. An example is Olavidía, the goat cheese made in the Jaén Quesos y Besos cheese factory and which, in 2021, won the 33rd “World Cheese Awards” competition.
Four years later, another Spanish cheese won the title of best goat cheese in the worldin the same competition. It is a variety that comes from Murcia, specifically from a family business in a neighborhood of Lorca.

Spellmade by the Murcian cheese factory La Zarcillera, located in the municipality of Lorca, in Zarcilla de Ramos, in the region of Murcia, has won the title of best goat cheese in the world at the World Cheese Championship organized in Bern (Switzerland).
This is not the only thing that this cheese factory from Murcia won in the championship: its winning product also placed in the top 10 of the best in the world among all the categories there were and having participated 5,244 cheeses from 46 different countries, obtaining eighth place. Furthermore, it was the only one of Spanish origin to reach the final.

A unique, creamy and honeyed cheese that melts in the mouth when tasted.” At the same time, the company emphasizes that “its delicacy and finesse become an explosion of flavors thanks to the magic of its natural edible rind.”
The fate comes from the milk of goats raised in the cheese factory’s own livestockfrom the Murcia-Granada breed, “considered the best in the world for its high milk production”, indicates the company on its website. Handcrafted, this product also stands out for its ingot format.
“At La Zarcillera We only use ferments and rennets of natural origin“, as our grandmother did, until our artisanal goat cheeses are ready to rest with controlled temperature and humidity in our maturing cellar”, argues the company on its website about the manufacturing process of its products.
