Members of the BNG led by their deputy in Congress, Néstor Rego, participated this Saturday in a “symbolic” demonstration in the area of San Simón and in front of a toll booth in Vilaboa (Pontevedra), where the AP-9 circulates, to demand that the central governmentAnd … the Audasa company concession ends on this highway and that the road be transferred to Galicia, in accordance with the will expressed on several occasions by the Galician Parliament unanimously despite the refusal of the Central Executive.
“We, Galicians, continue to pay tolls on the Atlantic Highway (AP-9) 12 years after the concession should have ended, for an infrastructure that has already been depreciated and which only favors the interests of a private company,” said Rego, calling “unjustifiable” that tolls continue to be paid despite the fact that the extension of the concession until 2048 was declared illegal by the European Union.
A problem still relevant after La Moncloa responded to the European file, sent last July, with which it would send the justification to Brussels to avoid the case being brought before the Court of Justice of the EU, which could lead to sanctions for the Spanish government and the restitution of tolls collected illegally.
In this sense, Rego urged the executive of Pedro Sánchez to prioritize the interests of Galicians and Atlantic Axis companies, in addition to transferring infrastructure to Galicia, even though the Congress of Deputies has already defeated this transfer of competences with dozens of extensions, transfers and amendments. All this despite the fact that the Galician Parliament unanimously approved the request for this transfer four times.
“The future of the AP-9 must pass through public management, without tolls and at the service of the social majority of Galicia,” concluded the Bloc deputy.
