A young man disappeared while going to fetch water in Dona Francisca
The body of the employee of the State Foundation for Environmental Protection (Fepam), Roberta dos Reis Constantin, aged 21, was found this Saturday morning (20) in the Jacuí River, in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul. The location took place around 7 a.m., after the body was spotted by fishermen in the town of Várzea de Agudo, between the municipalities of Dona Francisca and Agudo.
Roberta had been missing since Tuesday afternoon (16), when she fell into the river while taking water samples for Fepam, in Dona Francisca. According to the Santa Maria Fire Department, the body was found approximately 2.7 kilometers from the point where the fall occurred.
According to Captain Hortênsio Costa Júnior, who coordinated the work, the rescue teams had passed the place where the body was located several times, notably at the end of the afternoon of Friday (19). The assessment is that the body emerged early in the morning and then was carried by the current to the point where it was sighted.
Since the disappearance, the search has mobilized a task force made up of 15 firefighters, in addition to the use of seven boats and four jet skis, operating permanently on the Jacuí River.
In a note distributed throughout the week, Fepam indicated that it had provided support to the employee’s family and colleagues, by offering him care and psychological support through the Dona Francisca Samu. The foundation also thanked the efforts of the teams involved in the research.
Roberta dos Reis Constantin was born in Caxias do Sul. Information on funeral ceremonies has not yet been officially released.
