Bolsonaro leaders in the Chamber of Deputies admit, behind the scenes, that proposals against the Federal Supreme Court (STF) – one of the main programs desired by the opposition – are unlikely to advance in the Chamber in 2026, the year of national elections.
In the column, the leaders of the PL affirm that, even if relations with the Supreme Court have deteriorated, the President of the Chamber, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), and the other leaders of the Centrão will not agree to vote against the Court.

This package includes, for example, the so-called “monocratic PEC”, which prevents a single minister of the Court from making decisions on issues voted on in the National Congress. The proposal is defended by the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP).
Another proposal that is unlikely to advance in the House next year, say PL leaders, is the one that modifies the rules for appointing ministers to the Supreme Court. Currently, several PECs on the subject are being processed at the National Congress.

The Bolsonaristas believe that there will only be an environment to vote on the projects that reach the STF if the right wins the 2026 elections. In the meantime, the tendency of the Centrão parties would be to try to pacify relations with the judiciary.
On Thursday (12/18), Motta made a “show” that he did not intend to contradict the Supreme Court. Although he promised to vote in plenary, he revoked, by decision of the Board of Directors, the mandate of Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ), as determined by the Court.
