This Sunday December 7it will be a historic day for the region Pedroches Valley: the Virgin of the Moon, venerated patroness of Pozoblanco and Villanueva de Córdoba, will receive the canonical coronation in a ceremony of great religious and … cultural. This event, which highlights the dedication of the faithful and the common identity of the two municipalities, aroused great anticipation. In fact, it is expected that more than 2,000 people attend the ceremony.
The coronation ceremony, in detail
The coronation ceremony of the Virgin of the Moon will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the Jara Shrine, where an altar was set up under a tent for the event. The Bishop of Córdoba, Jesús Fernández, will be responsible for presiding over the event, which will last a few two hoursand in which the polyphonic choirs of San Miguel (from Villanueva de Córdoba) and Marcos Redondo (from Pozoblanco) will participate.
Participants will be able to access the tent from 10:00 a.m. hoarse and will have a book of missals which will be distributed by the organization, accompanied by a souvenir card.
In order not to lose details, it will be installed screens and sound system in outdoor spaces so that anyone who cannot access the tent can follow the celebration live.

The Virgin of the Moon presents a new crown designed by the Sevillian goldsmith Ramon Leona piece made of 2.4 kg of sterling silver, enriched with 65 grams of gold. The crown design features amethysts, zircons and pearls.
Additionally, the image will also have a deep blue coat with the embroidered shields of Pozoblanco and Villanueva de Córdoba. Her child is also making her costume debut.
Procession
Once the Virgin is crowned, the 2:00 p.m.there will be a procession in which the image will be moved to the hermitage, allowing all the faithful to accompany the Virgin of the Moon in her new role as Heavenly Queen.

Safety and transport device
This historic event will feature an important event safety and mobility device which will guarantee the smooth running of events, both in the tent and during the procession. More than a hundred people, including members of the Civil Guard, Civil Protection, municipal police, private security and volunteers, will be responsible for managing the security and order of the event.
To facilitate the arrival of the faithful, a pick-up service has been set up. public transport which will begin operating at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 7. The buses will depart from Pozoblanco and Villanueva de Córdoba and will provide uninterrupted service until 4:00 p.m., with stops at the usual pilgrimage points. At the end of the events, a return bus service will be available.

On Monday, December 8, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a thanksgiving mass at 1:00 p.m.during which the priests of Pozoblanco and Villanueva de Córdoba will concelebrate. This act, which will culminate with the coronation, aims to thank the Virgin of the Moon for her intercession and for the devotion received for centuries, in a context of deep union between the two peoples.
