The City Council Intelligence Center helps police locate a warehouse containing 700 kilograms of drugs in Ramos

The Central Intelligence, Surveillance and Technology in Support of Public Security (Civitas) of the Rio City Council helped the Civil Police to identify a warehouse in Ramos, in the northern region, where 700 kilograms of drugs were seized on Tuesday (2). At the property, agents also found two vehicles that were monitored by the center. The operation was attended by police officers from DP 33 (Realengo), DP 17 (São Cristóvão) and Polinter, coordinated by delegate Flavio Rodrigues.

According to police, the drugs, a large amount of marijuana, will be used to supply the slums of Complexo da Mare. The warehouse is located at Rua João Torquato, 217. The cars on site will be used to make deliveries. No one was at the scene at the time of the police operation, but those responsible are being investigated.

According to Civitas CEO Davi Carreiro, the location of the warehouse was identified after suspicious vehicles were spotted included in the electronic blockade system.

— This seizure reinforces the strategic role played by Civitas in the fight against crime in Rio. The cameras were essential in tracking the vehicles that took the police to the depot. Two of them were there at the time of the operation. He said Rio is adopting a security policy based on evidence, information and coordinated action.

Carreros said the surveillance began on November 13, when civilian police requested support to investigate the history of circulation of some vehicles linked to criminal activities. Since then, the system has recorded 60 alerts, allowing movements to be identified in real time and identifying patterns that point to a destination in the Ramos area.

Civitas indicates that it continues to work in cooperation with the civil police and other security forces, and that in 2025 it has installed nearly three thousand smart cameras, which exceeds nine thousand pieces of equipment distributed throughout all neighborhoods of the city.
