The Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF) approved, this Tuesday (23/12), the bill that corrects the table of the Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas (Fipe) and definitively fixes the market values of vehicles registered and registered in the DF for 2026. The Fipe table is used in the DF to calculate the property tax on motor vehicles (IPVA). For next year, the IPVA in the capital will have an average adjustment of 1.72%.
The project was voted on in the first and second rounds. Twenty-three deputies voted, 16 for and seven against; a parliamentarian was absent. The proposal is now submitted to the Governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), for approval.
The 1.72% increase in IPVA had already been defined in draft law no. 1988/2025, approved by the CLDF on December 3. PL 2.100/2025, approved by the House this Tuesday, therefore does not modify the increase, it only corrects certain points in the Fipe table.
Among the errors noted was the absence of certain vehicle models by year of manufacture. According to technicians from the Federal District Economy Secretariat, Fipe itself sent the DF government a new version of the table with the fields duly corrected.
“This is a strictly technical correction, necessary to ensure that the calculation of IPVA is carried out on the basis of correct and up-to-date information, without impact on the taxpayer’s tax burden,” said Economy Secretary Daniel Izaias de Carvalho.
The average adjustment of 1.72% corresponds to the appreciation of the market value of vehicles, according to a study carried out by Fipe between September 2024 and September 2025. According to the Secretariat of the Economy, this means that the car listed on the market for R$80,000 will pay, for example, an IPVA of R$2.4,000.

Parliamentarians opposed to the government voted against the project and questioned the amounts that will be billed to citizens in 2026. According to them, in certain cases, the adjustment will reach 8%.
“The bill will be more expensive next year,” said MP Gabriel Magno (PT). “There are 270 thousand motorcycles in this city. Especially for this group, who even uses the motorcycle to try to bring food to the house, a higher bill will arrive.”
“We did not participate today in the plenary session of the Legislative Chamber to increase taxes for the population of the DF, especially without a plan to disincentivize individual transport and strengthen urban mobility and public transport in the DF,” emphasized the district Fábio Felix (PSol).
