During an operation in Colombia’s North Pacific, the Colombian Navy seized a shipment of marijuana worth more than $4 million and captured two Colombian nationals who were transporting the drug.
The operation took place on December 9, 2025, near Bahía Málaga, in the Valle del Cauca department. as part of an offensive against organizations dedicated to drug trafficking in the region.

According to official information from the military institution, the intervention was carried out thanks to data provided by naval intelligence. Members of the Buenaventura Coast Guard spotted and intercepted a vessel sailing suspiciously through the waters of Colombia’s North Pacific.

During the onboard inspection, sailors found 24 packages with characteristics of illegal substances, communication devices and fuel containers. The inmates, who were two men of Colombian nationality, aged 37 and 26, were captured and taken to Navy facilities along with the drugs and seized materials.
According to the Colombian Navy, officials from the Technical Investigation Corps (CTI) conducted the Homologated Preliminary Identification Test (Piph) and determined this The shipment totaled 760,239 kilograms of marijuana ready for distribution in international illicit markets.
Authorities estimated that the seized drugs amounted to nearly 126,000 doses, preventing their distribution on the streets and dealing a major blow to the finances of drug trafficking networks responsible for criminal activity in the region.
The military authority stated that both those arrested and those insured were at the disposal of the relevant authorities, who would take appropriate legal action.

Lieutenant Commander Camilo Larrota, Commander of the Coast Guard Station Buenaventura, stated: “As part of the operations carried out by the Colombian Navy against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, the interdiction of a vessel transporting marijuana, crewed by two people of Colombian nationality, was achieved.”
The officer stated that the intelligence information made it possible to detect the motor vessel, neutralize the suspicious maneuver and seize the illegal substance as well as instruments facilitating navigation and communication, in accordance with the procedures established for interception at sea.
“With this result, the naval institution prevented more than four million dollars from entering the finances of drug traffickers, as well as the marketing of more than 126,000 doses of narcotics on the streets of the world,” the officer emphasized in a statement.

The action is part of ongoing efforts to maintain patrols and maritime control in the Colombian Pacific. The Colombian Navy reiterated its commitment to the protection of coastal communities and the lawful use of the sea through the continuous deployment of personnel and specialized assets to combat drug trafficking and other illegal activities in the region.
Added to this action is the discovery of more than a ton of marijuana in the municipality of Guacarí, in the Valle del Cauca department.
