Fernanda Torres was embroiled in controversy at the end of the year over a statement in an ad campaign. The actress was accused and criticized for mocking right-wing political supporters in an ad for Havaianas.
In the content, Fernanda Torres says: “I’m sorry, but I don’t want you to start 2026 off on the right foot.”
“No, there’s nothing against luck, but let’s face it: luck doesn’t depend on you, does it? It depends on luck. What I want is for you to start the new year with both feet,” he then adds.
The message was understood by right-wing supporters as biased, since it was a political position favorable to the left. Neither the actress nor the brand have taken a position in the face of criticism, but several profiles have announced a boycott against Havaianas.
On the networks, the right brandished the hashtag #HavaianasNoLixo after the advertising had repercussions and promised to boycott the brand. After the fallout, Havaianas removed the video from his feed, but the post remains available on Instagram’s Reels tab.
