The Cordoba Art Market promotes the regionalization of exhibitions

Cordoba.- With the opening of a new edition of the Cordoba Arts Market (MAC) today at the Convention Center, the Mediterranean city is regaining its centrality. With two points, says curator Sofía Torres Cosiba, between the Quad and the Docta, the home of the great Antonio Segui is heading towards more. A public gallery aimed at the general public, free and engaging, connecting the established gallery scene with new voices and emerging artists. For contemporary art, it is a porous border. There is plenty to see and comment on until Sunday; Under the mercurial sign, which allows, according to Torres Cosiba’s definition, to “measure the temperature”, while promoting communications and trade.

There are new signs in these 12 MACs of excitement about the return of the IKA Biennale to Cordoba, contemporary in its origins with the San Pablo Biennale founded by Ciccillo Matarazzo:

1) Cordoba has an exceptional network of museums.

2) Critical mass of collectors.

3) A generation of managerial artists undoubtedly embodies the new way of the cultural actor owning the scene.

Think only of Torres Cosiba and his alter ego Manuel Cole, but also of other areas of inspiration such as Guido Yanito and Raul Flores. It would only be necessary to add the exotic talent of Córdoba artists from the unique point of view of Antonio Segui and that the MAC takes place in a convention center on Ramón J Cárcano Street. Probably no one has done more for our culture and identity than the politician from Cordoba. He arranged for the landscape architect Thaïs to visit Cordoba to design the Crisol Park in Cordoba, today the Sarmiento Park, and hired Norbert Maillart to build the Curios Palace, today the Libertad Palace. The tour begins at 62 galleries and begins the discussion of the new art scene in Argentina, with the regionalization of exhibitions the strongest trend this year.

From Corrientes to Salta, from Chaco to Rosario and, of course, to Buenos Aires, something has changed so that nothing is the same anymore, in the opposite direction of the tiger of Lampedusa. Time for changes. Arteba must also review its place on the exhibition board and strengthen one of its strengths: international connectivity.

It was Arteba’s turn to reinforce the Latin American identity that had gained notoriety under Mauro Herlitzka. There is nothing more in tune with the city, which in Malba houses the best collection of modern Latin American art in the world. A unique opportunity to conquer the public and art collectors from neighboring countries and the region. Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru are closer than we think. And there’s always the alliance with Brazil, which had its moment of glory… and is still working.
