The Specialized Stadium Police Battalion (Bepe) had to move around 200 Corinthians fans who were occupying captive seats at the Maracanã this Sunday, before the Brazilian Cup final between Corinthians and Vasco. They were there with the symbols of the club, without any division separating them from the Vasco supporters.
The police intervened because the atmosphere began to become more tense, with the Corinthians singing loudly and the hosts responding. The risk of confusion was very clear. The large group of São Paulo supporters was not part of the shipment of 4,000 tickets to the Parque São Jorge club.
In the report, Corinthians fans who were captive said they bought the tickets from resellers or friends of Flamengo and Tricolor who have a captive seat at the Maracanã.
The police officers involved in the operation said they did not know the origin of the tickets and said they acted for security reasons, in addition to having informed that the group would be transferred to the visitors’ area.
The Corinthians were entitled to 4,000 tickets as agreed with Vasco. The two clubs agreed to cede 5.4% of the capacity of the Neo Química Arena to Vasco supporters and 5.1% of the Maracanã to Corinthians.
