The writer and poet Macarena Alonso Gomez returns to the fray with his latest poetic work, ‘Forbidden skins’, a visceral journey that reveals the power of love, freedom and inner transformation. This Monday, December 15, the author will present her book … at the Regional Library of Castile-La Mancha, at the Alcázar of Toledo, in a very special event that promises to be a sensory and emotional experience. Accompanied by actress Yolanda Velasco, the two will guide participants on a poetic journey that goes beyond verses and becomes a reflection of the human soul.
“Pieles Prohibidas” is the third collection of poems by Macarena Alonso, a work that marks not only an evolution in her style, but also a testimony to her personal career. After the success of “Scars of Hope” and “Butterfly Petals”, The author takes the reader on an emotional journey where the skin becomes the symbol of memory and internal scars. In this book, he delves deeper into the complex relationship we have with our bodies, with love and with suffering. From injured skin to scarred skin, the author explores the different ways of feeling, healing and loving. Her poetry becomes a refuge where women free themselves from taboos and restrictions imposed by society.
The first poem, “Women in My Skin,” opens with a powerful statement: “My skin is stitched with the remains of the women who came before me. » With these words, Macarena invites us to reflect on the emotional heritage we carry, on the collective history of women who, like her, have fought and healed over time. This poem reflects not only Alonso’s personal story, but also a testament to the women who influenced his life, from his mother to all the women who were his inspiration.
The release of “Pieles Prohibidas” comes just days after Macarena Alonso received the Menina Prize in Toledo, an award that recognizes her great sensitivity and activism in favor of women victims of gender violence. This award, which was presented to him during a moving ceremony on November 26, symbolizes Alonso’s commitment to the feminist cause, a central theme of his literary work. In the words of the author, this recognition is a tribute to all the women who inspired her: “I dedicated it to all the women who preceded me and who were for me an example of struggle and courage, a light of hope, who rebuilt me as a woman and as a person,” she recalls to ABC.
Naked soul
For Macarena Alonso, poetry is much more than a job; It is an act of emotional nudity. Through his work, he expresses an inner world full of feelings that arise from his experiences and his vision of the world. As she herself says: “I believe that poetry is the purest feeling transformed into words. I open my soul and express everything I have inside. In “Forbidden Skins,” the author addresses universal themes such as love, heartbreak, violence, motherhood, and human frailty, but she does so from a deeply emotional, personal perspective.
Throughout the pages, the skin becomes the protagonist, a powerful metaphor that goes from the pain of wounds to the liberation that love brings. Alonso talks about how his poetry was the way to heal the scars on his own skin and, at the same time, the way to share his emotions with others. “My injured skin, but also my scarred skin, that’s what I want to share with readers,” explains the author.
In the book’s prologue, writer and screenwriter Roberto Hoya describes Macarena Alonso as a woman who radiates energy and wisdom, whose writing is characterized by both intensity and calm. He highlights how her work reflects a deep understanding of love and grief, and how her personal experiences, notably her work as president of an association for the defense of abused women, have enriched her literary work. For Hoya, Alonso’s poetry is a cry from the soul, a sincere song to life and the need for expression.
A future full of works
Macarena Alonso doesn’t stop. In addition to her poetry, which continues to be her refuge and her first passion, the writer has in her hands a novel that she will present next year. Literature continues to be his means of struggle, healing and transformation. His vision of the world, so sensitive and deep, continues to permeate every page he writes, whether in prose or verse.
In the presentation of Forbidden Skins, Macarena Alonso invites us to witness an act of emotional resistance. An evening where, as she herself expresses it, “poetry is magical, it is life itself”, and each verse becomes a reflection of the fight for freedom, equality and love.
