From this Monday (12/29), CPTM Line 11-Coral trains will no longer run between Corinthians-Itaquera and Tatuapé stations. The partial closure lasts until January 7, 2026 and is necessary for the passage of Tatuzão, the tunneling company responsible for the expansion works of line 2-Vert of the São Paulo metro.
As an alternative, passengers will be able to use the 3-Red line of the metro, which will have free integrations open in the Corinthians-Itaquera and Tatuapé stations for the duration of commercial operation. This section of line 3 will enter service at 4 a.m. to follow the opening times of line 11.
Closures and alternatives
Between December 29 and January 7, Line 11-Coral will have split operations. Trains will run normally on the sections between Estudantes and Corinthians-Itaquera and between Tatuapé and Palmeiras-Barra Funda. There will be no traffic on the section between Corinthians-Itaquera and Tatuapé.
Alternatively, passengers must take the Metro Line 3-Red, with free integration at these stations, and can return to Line 11-Coral at either point.
During the closure, connections with Line 3-Red will be open from 4 a.m., at the same time as the CPTM operates. Between 4:00 a.m. and 4:40 a.m., Line 3-Red will only operate on the section between Corinthians-Itaquera and Tatuapé; after this time, it will begin to operate along its entire length.

Brás station will also continue to serve as a free integration option between the two lines. For passengers on the eastern section of line 11-Coral, line 12-Safira is another alternative, with transfers at Calmon Viana, Tatuapé and Brás stations.
Strengthening the Paese
Between December 29 and 31 and January 5 to 7, there will be an increase in passenger service with Operation Paese, which will have free buses during peak hours, connecting Tatuapé and Corinthians-Itaquera via Radial Leste.
Reason for ban
The closure is necessary to allow the passage of the tunneling company Shield, known as Tatuzão, which will be responsible for digging the tunnels for the expansion of Line 2-Vert.
The excavations begin in an area of sandy soil and near the route of Line 11-Coral, in the region of the future Penha station, which requires additional security measures. During this period, the railway section will be deactivated and the ground will be permanently monitored.
After crossing the Line 11-Coral area, the tunnel boring machine will head towards the Soares Neiva ventilation shaft, before the future Aricanduva station.
Expansion of the 2-green line
The works are part of the extension of Line 2-Green, which, in this first stage, will connect Vila Prudente to Penha, with approximately 8 kilometers in length and eight new stations, in addition to the construction of a new station on Line 11-Coral in Penha. The goal is to serve more than 300,000 passengers per day, expanding travel options and redistributing demand from the metro rail system.
