Next year, the Cuenca Provincial Council will have a budget of 125.75 million euros, which will represent an increase of 6.5% compared to last year and a new record for the provincial institution, which allocates 650 euros per inhabitant, … which makes it, as highlighted by its president, Álvaro Martínez Chana, “the third province in Spain with the most investments per capita and the first in Castile-La Mancha”.
Martínez Chana and the third vice president and deputy of the Treasury, Emma Cano, were responsible for breaking down a budget which, barring any surprises, It will be unanimously approved in the plenary session of the Provincial Council this Tuesdaysince all the amendments presented by the Popular Party were accepted.
The president of the Provincial Council thanked “the good disposition of both parties” to reach an agreement and verified that, as far as they could go by consulting the archives of the newspaper, Over the past 30 years, this unanimity has never occurred in the provincial accounts.
The budget will be 125,762,000 euros, to which must be added the 4,178,638 euros from the Autonomous Collection Organization until reaching a consolidated budget of 129.9 million euros.
Martínez Chana explained that increasing the State’s contribution through installments is essential to be able to increase the budget year after year, but he also emphasized that in this legislature “we went looking for funds in European articles or the regional government”, which made it possible to finance certain ideas.
Budget increase for all programs
Concerning the programs, the investment section is growing by 83% compared to last year and the construction of the new waste plant This will be one of the central axes, with more than ten million euros budgeted for a project which will result in a final expenditure of around 50 million euros.
Regarding the transfer of the landfill, which will be the subject of a call for tenders next year if everything goes as planned and which will be carried out until 2029, Martínez Chana wanted to emphasize that it will be possible to carry it out only with the own funds of the Provincial Deputation, without resorting to bank financing.
Also note the 6.5 million euros which will be allocated to the start of the new fire stations of the Provincial Council of Priego and Cañete.
In general, all articles have increased and new lines are included, among which we can highlight the incorporation of an article of acquisition of furniture for town halls, a cemetery investment plana street sales program, assistance with the dispensation of medicines in rural pharmacies, among others.
In terms of support for municipalities, the amount is doubled to support hire administrative staff in municipal councils and work-life balance programs are strengthened.
In terms of tourism, one of the most ambitious initiatives will be the investment of 800,000 euros for the organization of the eclipse scheduled for August 12, 2026, which is expected to attract a large number of visitors to the province.
In the sports area, aid will be increased to the Cuenca clubs of the Second RFEF, to the Hermanos Herrada cycling race and nominal aid will be granted to Vivo Cuenca Futsal. In the agricultural sector, among others, there will be more money for rural development groups and it will rely on Alcarria oil.
Finally, in terms of culture, positions such as aid to music groups for the production of records are increased, as well as the budget of the Antonio Pérez Foundation.
