Amazon-MGM studios released this Wednesday (17) the first trailer for the documentary “Melania”, which follows the wife of US President Donald Trump during the three weeks preceding his inauguration at the White House in January.

The documentary, of which Melania is executive producer, will be released in theaters on January 30 and announces “unprecedented” access to these 20 days, “through the eyes of the first lady herself”.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Melania will receive more than 70% of the $40 million (220.4 million reais) paid by Amazon to finance the documentary. A sum much higher than the offer of 14 million (R$77.1 million) made by Disney, the second highest after Amazon-MGM, according to the newspaper.
The film comes after a big rapprochement last year between Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and President Trump. Bezos won a front-row seat at the Republican’s inauguration for his second term on Jan. 20 at the Capitol.
“Here we go again,” says the 55-year-old former model, looking directly at the camera, moments before the inauguration, at the start of the trailer, which lasts a little over a minute and in which she appears going from meeting to meeting.

In a luxurious office, Melania calls her husband to congratulate him on his speech: “Hello, Mr. President. Congratulations,” she says. And when he asks, “Have you seen it?”, she replies, “No…I’ll see it on the news.”
The trailer also shows a photoshoot at the White House, travel footage, and more intimate moments, like the placing of a white flower on a grave.
Since the president took office, the Trumps have lived mostly apart. Melania spends most of her days in New York, where her son Barron, 19, is enrolled in college.
“Melania” also marks the return behind the camera of Brett Ratner, the director of box office hits like “Rush Hour” and “X-Men: The Last Stand”, accused in 2017 of sexual assault by several actresses, in the midst of the #MeToo movement.
