Brussels, December 12 (EFECOM). – The President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Nadia Calviño, today announced a loan of 30 million euros to finance the research and development program of the Spanish defense and dual technology company Oesía.
“I can announce an important financing agreement for the research and development program of the Spanish technology leader Oesía, a leader in civil and military affairs,” Calviño said upon his arrival at the Council of Finance Ministers of the European Union.
The agreement, added the EIB President, follows “two other very important operations to finance the research and development program of the Indra company and also the financing to enable the creation of the first investment fund dedicated to the security and defense sector, the Nazca Fund.”
Last July, the EIB approved a financing program of 385 million euros for Indra and last November agreed to a “capital injection of 40 million” for Nazca, Calviño recalled.
“Spain plays and will play a very important role in strengthening Europe’s security and defense capabilities and the EIB is investing and supporting the ability of Spanish companies to be at the forefront of this area so important to our stability and security,” he added.
The European Investment Bank has already achieved its goal for 2025 of “providing 3.5 billion euros in financing in the area of security and defense,” said the institution’s president happily.
In addition, the EIB Board of Directors “approved an ambitious program for 2026: 4.5 billion euros in financing in this area, representing 5% of total financing within the EU,” he concluded. EFECOM
