Three days after Christmas, the Russian Embassy in Kenya released an AI-made video that was satirical in nature, but full of subliminal messages that reflect the current dynamics of global politics. In the images, President Vladimir Putin appears dressed as Santa Claus and distributes “innocent” gifts to eight heads of state.
The video begins with Putin’s gift to Xi Jinping, President of China, who receives two Christmas decorations: one with the symbol of the Chinese currency, the yuan, and the other of the Russian currency, the ruble. When Xi places the two ornaments side by side on the Christmas tree, the dollar sign immediately falls and shatters on the ground.
It is then the turn of Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister, in place of the current president, Droupadi Murmu. He receives a Russian fighter plane with a smile and plays with it in the air.
US President Donald Trump comes next and also flashes a big smile when he receives a photo frame with his photo next to Putin.
Nicolás Maduro comes next and gets a great DJ mic. When the president of Venezuela turns on the equipment, the music says in a Spanish accent: “Not war, just peace, forever, forever, forever.” And a party begins.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of Turkey, then opens his package. In it, a snow globe depicts the image of Akkuyu, site of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant, located in Mersin province on the Mediterranean coast.
Then, Kim Jong-un, president of North Korea, receives a sword with a note: “From Russia, with gratitude.”
As was not to be missed, Zelensky also receives his gift, but is not happy with it. It involves a pair of handcuffs that are soon placed on his wrists and an image of him already in prison, behind bars, is displayed next to the face of the frightened Ukrainian president.
Finally, Viktor Orbán, Hungarian Prime Minister, appears, who wins a sort of “gasoline voucher” as part of a “special offer”.
