The report approved by a large majority will be sent to the CCJ before the final decision
During an extraordinary meeting this Wednesday (17), the Ethics Commission of Porto Alegre City Hall approved the opinion calling for the dismissal of Councilor Gilvani o Gringo (Republicans). The report by Councilor Karen Santos (PSOL) was approved with 11 votes in favor and one abstention.
The document underlines that the parliamentarian would have control of family companies which maintain contracts with public authorities, which constitutes an illegality. It also cites a breach of decorum due to alleged bribe payments in 2015.
During the session, Gringo said the accusations were “made up” and accused opponents of speaking out against him politically. The case will be analyzed by the CCJ then voted on in the plenary session of the Chamber.
