The European Parliament will debate this week at the plenary session in Strasbourg, the situation within the PSOE and the government due to the alleged cases of harassment occurring in the socialist ranks. The initiative came from the Spanish PP and it was adopted thanks to votes against, precisely from the socialists. “We have seen a cascade of cases of harassment,” defended the general secretary of the EPP, Dolors Montserrat, who defined what is happening as “the me too of socialists” where, she said, “each case is more repugnant than the previous one”.
“There is harassment from those in power, They knew it and did nothing“, denounced the MEP, who also recalled that the PSOE, she affirmed, “distanced the victims” who wanted to denounce.
Pedro Sánchez, on the other hand, does not move. There will be no government reshuffle or advancement of the general elections despite the cases of corruption surrounding the executive and the PSOE and the scandals linked to alleged cases of sexual harassment discovered within the party. This was expressed this Monday by Sánchez himself, who declared that he had the “energy” to continue and exhaust the legislature because “This government is suitable for Spain; this government is profitable for the Spanish people”.
“Despite the noise that we have visibly been experiencing for years, We will not forget who we serve and who we are. and what we have achieved for women and the country. If we have to endure campaigns of personal harassment, I will,” Sánchez said at a press conference from Moncloa, where he took stock of the last year.
He began by responding to the crisis caused by cases of corruption and harassment. “We made mistakes, like everyone else“, but all progress has always been made hand in hand with women and with progressive governments”, he declared, to assure that he “will not accept lessons” from the right and the far right and that if he has to “endure” a campaign of “harassment, lies and mud”, he will do so. To do this, he will seek parliamentary support “even under the stones” in order to reach agreements “that are good for the social majority of the country”.
“This week the European Parliament will debate the multiple cases of sexual harassment that afflict the PSOE. We will denounce the fact that victims have been fired, silenced or forced not to report. All this with the complicity of Pedro Sánchez. As expected, the PSOE voted against the debate. No more standard feminism” Monserrat herself shared on social networks.
