The European Union High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, confirmed today, Saturday (06/12/2025), that the bloc’s relationship with the United States remains the most important for Europe, despite the new national security strategy announced by Washington.
“Of course there is a lot of criticism, but I think some of it is also valid,” the official said at the Doha Forum, a diplomatic conference held annually in the Qatari capital.
Kallas said that Europe “underestimates its strength in the face of Russia.” He added: “We must have more confidence in ourselves.”
The United States warns of the “disappearance of European civilization”
This statement comes in response to the publication on Friday of a document that predicts the “disappearance of civilization” in Europe and calls for combating “mass migrations” and restoring “American hegemony in Latin America.”
In the report, Washington strongly criticizes European allies and indicates that the United States will support those who oppose the values promoted by the European Union, especially regarding immigration.
“The United States remains our greatest ally,” Kallas said. “We have not always agreed on different issues, but I think the general principle is still there. We are the greatest allies and we must remain united.”
