The most anticipated film of next year is undoubtedly The Odyssey, an adaptation of the Homeric poem directed by Christopher Nolan with a spectacular cast that also includes Matt Damon as Odysseus. Yesterday the film released its first trailer, showing the epic scale of the project.
In the trailer, we see Damon experience various misadventures with the men who accompany him in his attempt to return home: storms on the open sea, fantastic creatures, death, the famous Trojan Horse and a war that drives him from his homeland. Towards the end of this preview, we hear Penelope (Anne Hathaway) ask her lover at the center of the story, “Promise me you’ll come back.” Odysseus replies, “What if I can’t?”
The film was shot entirely with IMAX cameras and filming took place in the Aeolian Islands, Sicily and in the municipality of Favignana, which unites three islands. The proposal, which also stars Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron, promises to be a real visual hit and break the box office.
