The investigation, which allowed the dissolution of an organization that specialized in robberies under the “Entradera” modality, revealed that several of its members had previous convictions for serious crimes, mainly related to aggravated robberies, the use of weapons and concealment.
According to the judiciary, at least four of those arrested had been charged in previous cases handled by both prosecutors in the Buenos Aires suburbs and the La Plata judicial department. The records include trials for aggravated concealment, qualified robbery and firearms offenses, some involving courts in La Plata.
One of the members was investigated twice for aggravated robberies, including an incident involving the use of a weapon and the discovery of a stolen vehicle. Another of the detainees recently had a robbery case processed in a local prosecutor’s office, while another had already been charged with aggravated concealment and aggravated robbery years ago.
In addition, it was established that one of the gang members had regained his freedom a few months ago after being placed in a department of the Buenos Aires Penitentiary Service, a situation that is now being re-examined in court following his re-arrest.
The researchers emphasized that none of those involved had any officially registered income, which strengthens the hypothesis that the group financed itself through organized criminal activities.
The raids
As part of the case, the Ministry of Justice authorized a series of simultaneous raids that allowed the arrest of all members of the illegal organization and the seizure of numerous elements relevant to the case.
During the proceedings the agents were seized Firearms of different calibersincluding 9-millimeter pistols – one with suppressed numbering – a sawn-off carbine, a revolver, a pistol and FAL rifle ammunition. Full magazines, ammunition boxes and identity concealment items such as balaclavas and gloves were also confiscated.
They also recovered eight motorcycle vehiclesseveral of them with active kidnapping claims and apocryphal domains, as well as cell phones, a bill counting machine, cash in Argentine pesos and foreign currencies, high-value appliances, clothing and other items allegedly stolen during the events under investigation.
All material was made available to the UFI No. 15 and from Guarantee Court No. 1who endorsed the actions of the police and ordered the appropriate measures as the case to determine the criminal responsibility of those arrested in a series of violent robberies against the elderly progresses.
