The Government of Salvador Illa gave the green light this month to maintain the reduction on public transport in 2026. This was announced in the press by the leader of the Communities in Parliament, Jéssica Albiach, who evaluated the agreement positively after a meeting with the council and spokesperson of the Government, Sílvia Paneque. The Generalitat will support the bonus of 50% of the price of tickets for the metro network, Rodalies, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat, trams and buses.
The agreement comes after the President of Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this month a single transport allowance of 60 euros -30 for children under 26-, for all of Spain. Albiach, however, recalled that the two proposals concerned different public transport.
The same Paneque confirmed last week that the T-Jove bonus was maintained, but it left behind the reduction on T-Casual and T-Usual, the cards most used by users. He also hindered this possibility by questioning its sustainability and ensuring that “everything cannot be free”.
Thus, T-Jove, with unlimited travel for three months, will continue at 44 euros, and T-Usual will maintain 22 euros. In the event that the order is not reached, the price of the two invoices will be doubled. At the moment, the Autoritat del Transport Metropolitana (ATM) has not officially confirmed the fares, which will depend on the increase in the CPI, which this year was 3%.
While waiting for more details on the agreement after the Council session which will take place this morning, Albiach advanced that the forecast is that the State will maintain the 20% bonus and that the Generalitat will take care of the remaining 30%. The Commons leader celebrated as the deal involves a horror that has been seen as significant for thousands of families. “At a time when the cost of living is now in the thousands of homes, we could not allow the bonus to be loaded,” he said.
Maintaining the bonus was one of the three conditions for the Communities to consider a future negotiation of the 2026 Budget. Once the first school has been saved, the Albiach formation is now demanding a meeting, but without closure, to respect the agreements for the third additional credit in terms of health and education. On the other hand, to start negotiations, sanctions must be taken in accordance with the Housing Law, because it is assured that it has been in force for a year, but no one has been charged.
