The government considers that Alberto Núñez Feijóo should “resign” after knowing the messages of former Valencian President Carlos Mazón with the leader of the PP, which show that they did not speak on the day of the fateful DANA of October 29, 2024 in which 230 people died in the province of Valencia until 8:08 p.m., three minutes before Es-Alert reached cell phones. “I put myself in the place of the victims of DANA and I can’t imagine the pain you are feeling with these messages.“, declared the minister’s spokesperson, Elma Saiz, who accuses Feijóo of lying for “a year”.
In an interview with La Hora de la 1, Saiz accused against the “content and form” of these messagesboth for the “way of expressing oneself” and for the “pain of lying”. “Feijóo has been lying for a year and for this reason alone he should resign“, he launched. According to him, the messages prove that the opposition leader “was not telling the truth” and that his only interest was “to erode and harm the Spanish government”. He also commented that it was already known that Mazón “was busy with something else” during the first hours of the tragedy, criticizing the “way of expressing himself” with Feijóo when he speaks of “fucking disaster, president”. “I wonder if Mr. Feijóo is not making his response messages known because they have the same tone,” he slipped.
On the other hand, the minister’s spokesperson affirmed that Christmas speech in which King Felipe VI advocated coexistence and warned against “boredom” of citizens in the face of political tensions and “extremism, radicalism and populism”. Saiz considered it “elegant and courageous”, including the warning regarding the “Danger of extremism”because he considers that this is happening in Extremadura by “opening the door of institutions” to Vox, also to Alberto Núñez Feijóo because “he lies to the victims of DANA”, or to the popular Xabier García Albiol for “letting people sleep in the street because of their origin”. “For me, extremism is not only Vox, but also PP” Saiz said.

He insisted that the Executive present the General State Budgets (PGE) to the first quarter 2026after having negotiated with “discretion” and “low profile” with the political parties. However, he affirmed that extended budgets are good because they allow the implementation of measures such as the social shield, which was approved during the last Council of Ministers of the year, and which will have to be validated during the first plenary session in January.
