Members of the Lula government are counting on a harvest of good news for the beginning of 2026, with the direct injection of money into millions of people with the lowest incomes.
The most important is the entry into force of the income tax exemption for those who earn up to R$5,000 per month, with an estimated contribution of more than R$20 billion to the economy next year.
Starting in February, there will also be a withdrawal of R$1,000 from Pé-de-Meia for students graduating from high school, in addition to an increase in the granting of free bottles of the Gás do Povo program and the social electricity tariff, which will reach people registered with CadÚnico with an income between half and the minimum wage. For the electricity bill alone, 55 million additional people will benefit.
Government interlocutors hope that the combination of these programs will give new impetus to the restoration of Lula’s popularity. The PT member would thus access a more comfortable position during the presidential campaign period.
