The national government confirmed the departure of side president Sergio Neverte and the appointment of Cristian Oguadra. This came in a statement by the presidential spokesman last night, after a day of strong accounts of Neifert’s departure.
The change in SIDE is part of the internal change existing within the ruling party, although in this case Niverte, the man of presidential advisor Santiago Caputo, has been replaced by another leader also close to the member of the “Iron Triangle”.
The official letter began: “The Intelligence Secretariat reports that following the approval of the Management Report for 2023-2024 by the Bicameral Committee for the Supervision of Intelligence Organizations and Activities of the Honorable Nation Conference, the first phase of the process of restructuring the National Intelligence System has been concluded.”
“This initial phase, headed by Mr. Sergio Never, made it possible to streamline internal processes and audits, make the organizational structure transparent, improve and modernize operating standards, and lay the foundations for a more efficient and professional organization,” the government noted.
“With parliamentary validation of the progress achieved, SIDE now begins the second phase of its institutional transformation, which will be led by Mr. Cristian Oguadra, a public and professional accountant with extensive experience in auditing, risk management, institutional strengthening and public administration,” the statement said.
In addition, it was emphasized that “his appointment will allow to deepen the technical and operational modernization of the organization, strengthen oversight and strategic planning mechanisms, and move towards an agile, integrated and modern intelligence model.”
The letter added, “The goal of President Javier Miley’s administration is to provide Argentina with an intelligence apparatus at the height of contemporary challenges and the leading role that our country has regained in the world.” He added: “Thus, the General Secretariat reaffirms its commitment to operational excellence, international cooperation, professionalization of personnel, defense of the fundamental interests of the Republic, and steady progress in strengthening a leading organization in the region and in accordance with the most demanding international standards.”
