A group of players who have already won prizes in federal lotteries have decided to invest heavily in this year’s Mega da Virada. In total, around 13 million reais were invested in bets to compete for the estimated 1 billion reais prize, according to Caixa Econômica Federal. The organization of the pools is ensured by Glaciel Andrade, from Cachoeira Dourada, south of Goiás, who has been coordinating the betting for more than a decade.
The rallies began 13 years ago, with around 50 participants, mostly military police officers. Today they bring together hundreds of people from different states like Goiás, São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Tocantins and Paraná, as well as punters residing abroad, in countries like the United States, Switzerland, England and Portugal.

The available shares cost R$2,280, R$1,956 and R$900, depending on the pool chosen.
