The head of the Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) of the National Social Security Institute (INSS), Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), asked the Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes to visit those convicted of the coup plot, including generals, sentenced on January 8 and former President Jair Bolsonaro. The requests submitted on Friday (11/28) claim that the meetings are of a “purely humanitarian and institutional nature.”

Viana explains in the petition that the visits do not conflict with judicial decisions, investigations or criminal executions. Viana is the head of the CPMI, which investigates the INSS fraud, which involves irregular cuts in benefits provided to pensioners and retirees.

The former president is serving his sentence at the Federal Police Supervision Authority in Brasilia. Moraes, the rapporteur of the criminal case for the coup, ordered the final ruling in the cases of Bolsonaro and the other defendants in Nucleus 1 on November 25, the same day the former president began serving his sentence.
