It is an impressive thing to be here and share with all of you and to be able to make this recognition on Charly’s corner, since Charly’s corner is in New York.”

He concluded: “I would also like to thank here Javier Ibáñez, a metro official, and Roy Cortina, Undersecretary of Cultural Policy. Without all these people we could not have achieved it. From the Buenos Aires legislature, the project was presented and with a unanimous vote of the 60 deputies it was possible to remove this plaque and make this historical mention possible in the city of Buenos Aires. So it is a source of pride for everyone, thank you everyone that you are here.” And today is a very important day because there will be many events.

And his city of Buenos Aires was in limbo because Charly comes from Buenos Aires. Before becoming Argentine, he lived in Buenos Aires. He is from Argentina, but he comes from the city of Buenos Aires. At that time, we believed that recognition of their city was not necessary, but fundamental. Thanks to this community of will, we have become a huge team in which we all work in our respective areas, all with responsibility. “It is a union of love to honor the greatest living artist we have, Carlos Alberto García Moreno.”
Mariano Cabrera, creator of the Esquina Charly García project. But we ended up there with Hilda and a few Argentinians. It was incredible and a few months ago he told me, “I’m going to do it in Buenos Aires.” Ok, here we are. Thank you, Mariano. I asked Charly: “What should I say?” and he replied, “I am very grateful.” On my behalf, on behalf of my family and from all of us who love Charly and his music, because it’s deserved, thank you very much!”
The three points of homage
According to the Alma Mater itself, this project is more ambitious than its New York counterpart as it will have three cornerstones:
Accompany the great photos in Charly’s urban interventions. Photo: Francisco Loureiro 1) The corner: The iconic corner of Coronel Díaz and Av Santa Fé is the main hub of the homage, with the official discovery of a commemorative plaque, installations in pedestrian crossings, graphics and signage by the Buenos Aires City Government, making official a place that is already part of the cultural and emotional heritage of all fans.
“There will be a plaque on the door of the 1905 Coronel Díaz building, the street sign on the corner itself and two pedestrian crossings in the shape of piano keys, as well as a photographic intervention at the newsstands and bus stops with huge photographs of photographs by Gabriel Rocca,” he says.

“The mural will be 5.50 x 4.50 meters, with an image of Charly based on photos taken by Rocca and made in Venecitas so that they do not deteriorate like a painting,” concludes Mariano.
