The Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Family and Equality of the Government of Andalusia, through the Andalusian Institute of Women (IAM), launched on social networks a prevention and awareness campaign against gender and sexual violence with the … objective of “lowering our guard against this social scourge during the Christmas holidays”.
This was announced this Saturday by the executive of Juanma Moreno in a press release in which he specified that, under the motto “We are always with you”, the campaign video “emphasizes” on the Andalusian women’s telephone number 900 200 999 and encourages you to call if you “know or experience a case of gender violence”.
This line is free, confidential, operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is available in 72 languages so that knowledge of Spanish “is not an obstacle for a woman to receive information, advice and help.”
The spot ends with a call for unity throughout society and with the message “Andalusia united against gender violence”.
In this context, the Minister of Social Inclusion, Youth, Family and Equality, Loles López called for “not to let our guard down, especially at Christmas”, which are dates of greater coexistence and, in some cases, greater risk.
DO NOT MINIMIZE SIGNALS
In this sense, she urged women and those around them “not to minimize the warning signs and to contact the specialized services of the Andalusian Institute of Women and/or the security forces at the slightest suspicion.”
At the same time, López insisted on “the importance that the telephone number 900 200 999 is registered on the phones of all Andalusians, because it is a resource that saves lives”.
In this regard, he recalled that this line is connected to emergency services 112, in coordination with the security forces; In cases of emergency, she manages admission to shelter resources for women and their daughters and sons and directs them to 24-hour comprehensive assistance centers for victims of sexual violence.
This video, as well as specific posters on support services for women victims of sexual assault, will be broadcast on social networks until January 6 and will also be broadcast on the communication channels of the Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Family and Equality, the Andalusian Women’s Institute, the Andalusian Youth Institute, the María Zambrano Documentation Center and women’s centers.
The Andalusian women’s helpline 900 200 999 has increased the number of daily calls received by 49% since 2018, reaching 120 interactions per day in 2024.
