The landing of major international brands in inland Argentina continues to set milestones, and this time the fried chicken giant is the protagonist. Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), the world-famous American chain, finally opened its doors in the province of Cordoba. The official inauguration took place this Thursday, December 11, and marked the beginning of the brand’s commercial activity in the Córdoba area, a market that fast food fans awaited with great anticipation.
The choice of the original location was no coincidence: the chain’s first store was installed in the Nuevocentro Shopping food courtone of the most important and busiest shopping centers in the provincial capital. With an area of 103 square meters, the branch began operations amidst a festive atmosphere, especially among the youth crowd. This strategic move allows the brand to strengthen its federal presence and add Córdoba to its list of active locations already included Buenos Aires, Rosario, Mendoza and San Juan.
The integration of this international brand is in line with the profound transformation process that Nuevocentro Shopping is undergoing. The facility is implementing an ambitious investment plan of more than $8 million to modernize its facilities and renew your visitors’ experience. Antonio Heinz, director of the shopping center, emphasized that the arrival of KFC is a milestone that reflects the vision of transforming the shopping center into a place where the most famous and popular brands coexist.
KFC in Córdoba: Opening of the Nuevocentro shopping location
The official opening day was marked by a celebration that changed the usual rhythm of the food court. Between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., the shopping center hosted a special event with live music and various recreational activities for the press and public. The big attraction of the day was undoubtedly the presence of the legendary Colonel Sanders, the figure reminiscent of the chain’s founder, who interacted with those present and became the center of attention at the company’s debut in Cordoba.
Beyond the celebration, the opening of this first location has a direct and positive economic impact on the region. As company sources confirm, the opening of the Nuevocentro branch led to the creation of 40 direct jobs. This increase in staff is part of the chain’s expansion policy, which aims to integrate into the work culture of each location it arrives at. Paula Barreto, marketing manager of KFC, highlighted the company’s enthusiasm to reach a province with a “great gastronomic culture” and a strong “entrepreneurial spirit” and to give the people of Córdoba the opportunity to live the experience of its original recipe.
KFC: expansion plan in Córdoba and renovation of the shopping center
KFC’s arrival in Nuevocentro is just the first step in a strategic plan for consolidation in the Mediterranean province. The chain has already confirmed that it is planning a second branch in a nerve center of the city: Nueva Córdoba. This future location will be established in an emblematic historic house in front of Plaza España, a few meters from other leading chains in the sector, which promises to increase the visibility of the brand and bring it closer to a predominantly young and university audience.
The shopping center that welcomes the American brand is also in full expansion. Nuevocentro, which is the fifth most important shopping center in the country with a leasable area of 36,500 square meters, began an expansion plan by another 3,000 square meters. This work also includes the comprehensive transformation of 70,000 covered square meters, completely revamping the shopping and walking experience of the more than 700,000 monthly visitors.
With this opening, KFC reaches its 49th branch across Argentina, reinforcing its goal of attracting new target groups in impressive locations. The inland commitment shows that the company has succeeded in establishing fried chicken as a competitive and desirable option compared to traditional hamburger offerings. For the residents of Córdoba, the creation of the chain not only represents a new culinary delight, but also a confirmation that the province remains an important destination for major international investments in the gastronomy sector.
