The Argentina U21 women’s field hockey team defeated China 3-0 in their match today at the Claudia Student National Stadium. The game’s scorers were Milagros Alastra and Zoe Díaz twice.
The victory allowed the Argentine youth teams to reach the final of the Junior World Cup for the sixth time in their history, and they will repeat the final of the last World Cup: next Saturday, December 13th, they will face the Netherlands. The Leoncitas were able to continue Argentina’s historic legacy at the World Youth Championship and will fight for the championship against the Dutch national team, one of the undisputed powers of the sport.
The first quarter was characterized by an even game, although the most dangerous move went to the Chinese, with goalkeeper Mercedes Artola fending off a very dangerous short corner. In the final quarter, another deficit by Alastra in the 53rd minute sealed the victory in favor of the Argentine team and a place in the final of the Junior World Cup in Santiago de Chile 2023.
