Las Leoncitas, the Argentine ice hockey team, reached the quarterfinals of the 2025 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Chile. They beat Wales 8-0 and finished the group stage in second place to stay in contention.
The teams led by Juan MartÃn López are among the eight best teams aiming to win the title. The goals were scored by Sol Guignet (2), Milagros Alastra, Zoe DÃaz, Juana Castellaro, Catalina Stamati, Chiara Ambrosini and Lara Casas.
The other qualifiers in Group B are Belgium, who both finished with seven points but placed the Belgians in first place on goal difference. The next challenge is tomorrow, Monday 8th, at 8:15 p.m. against Germany for a place in the semi-finals.
“It was a good first stage for us. As our coach says, now a new tournament begins. This is the best part and we are very prepared and confident. Argentina will always do their best to be among the top four,” said Sol Guignet after the game.
