Even while hoping that the President of the House, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), will be more “PT” in 2026, government leaders in Congress say that the strategy will be to “avoid” Parliament next year.
PT members and Lula’s allies explain that there are no plans for the Palácio do Planalto to send major proposals for consideration by the Chamber and Senate during an election year, unlike what happened in 2025.

The objective is to avoid new conflicts and not run the risk of once again creating a bad atmosphere with the deputies and senators. Emphasis will be placed on examining projects that are already in the hands of the Legislature, as is the case of PEC 6×1.
The proposal should be the main banner of the PT and allied parties. As the chronicle shows, the leaders of the Centrão are willing to discuss this topic, provided that the government also gives in to the issues that interest the group.

Another central point will be the battle for the security PEC, one of the bets of the Lula government as standard bearer on the subject for the national elections, and which should undergo important changes during the vote in the Chamber.
In 2025, the Planalto managed to approve, for example, the income tax reform. He also approved the increase in taxation on betting and fintechs, but saw the climate deteriorate because of PL Antifação and PEC da Blindagem.
