The president of São Paulo, Julio Casarespresented proposals to amend the club’s statutes to allies at a meeting on Tuesday. Olten AyresChairman of the Deliberative Council, also participated in the meeting.
Two changes are proposed: the end of the quorum qualified to approve the creation of a SAF in São Paulo (while today more than two thirds of the votes in favor are needed for the subject to move forward) and the separation of football from the social club. The information was originally published by age and confirmed by Stadium.
The agenda is still embryonic and will be formalized by a commission of the Deliberative Council. This group will assess whether or not it is appropriate to submit the issue for discussion by the other councilors.
The idea gained momentum when businessman Diego Fernandes, who brokered the CBF negotiations with Carlo Ancelotti, indicated his intention to invest in the club. This Tuesday he published a video announcing “São Paulo Day”.
The event, unrelated to the club, will take place on April 6, 2026. According to Fernandes, the intention is to bring together businessmen from the country and abroad interested in investing in São Paulo.

Members of opposition groups take a dim view of this movement. This is because he appears in the middle of scandals in São Paulo. After the crisis was revealed within the club’s medical department, an alleged scheme to illegally sell tickets in a MorumBis dressing room was revealed. Tuesday’s meeting also served to refer this latest case to the council’s ethics committee.
If the statutory modifications are deemed relevant by the commission, they will be debated in council. If approved, the proposal is submitted to the General Assembly to be voted on by the members of São Paulo.
The last time São Paulo’s statutes were amended was in 2022. At the time, members approved the club’s presidential re-election. This allowed Júlio Casares, who took office in January 2021, to run again at the end of 2023, when he was re-elected without competitors.
