Toni González, mayor of Almussafes (Valencia) and now vice-secretary of the PSOE in the province of Valencia and member of the autonomous executive, announced this Saturday that he had decided to request the suspension of his membership in the party and to resign from his organic functions, as well as from the town hall, after being denounced internally for sexual harassment. “This painful decision,” he declared in a statement published on social networks, “will allow me to defend my honor in the face of the false accusation that I received without it implying perjury towards the party that gave me everything, in which I have been fighting for decades and which I carry deep in my heart.”
The complaint against him for sexual harassment was presented to a Valencian socialist activist through the channel authorized to him and which centralizes the central leadership of the PSOE. This same activist, who works in a municipal company, filed another complaint against the mayor for harassment at work.
In his statement, González assures that “he will continue to work from the Town Hall for the elderly and elderly people of Almussafes, from the Municipal Joint Group, leading the local government and realizing the project that the elderly and elderly people of Almussafes massively support in the elections”.
