THE Perdigones Kiosks They begin a new life in the hands of Rock of the Macarena. The Mayor of Seville, José Luis Sanz, inaugurated this Sunday, together with the Archbishop, José Ángel Saiz Meneses, the premises offered by the City Hall to … the Rocera brotherhood of the parish of San Gil, municipal spaces “abandoned for years” and which have today been transformed into an “important center” of social, educational and solidarity activity for the Macarena district.
The first mayor highlighted in his speech that “it is an important day for Seville and, in particular, for this area of the Perdigones Park”, since it is a day “in which we demonstrate that public spaces take on their true meaning when they are serving peoplesolidarity and the common good.
Sanz also took the opportunity to address the older brother and members of Rocío de la Macarena, as well as the neighbors of the neighborhood, to emphasize that the reopened kiosks “had been closed for too long”this is why “with this in mind, the Town Hall has chosen to give them a new life with a social use linked to the values of the city”.
In context, this free administrative transfer for 30 years “This will make it possible to carry out an ambitious, rigorous and absolutely necessary project” for the “revitalization” of this park environment, “which was lifeless,” declared the mayor. During the opening ceremony a tile was discovered in honor of the Virgin of Rocío.
Social project of the Fraternity
Thus, as indicated by the local Administration, from this Sunday, the premises will house a solidarity warehouse, a psychological support center for familieslanguage classrooms and spaces for academic reinforcement, neighborhood coexistence and social integration.
In this sense, the councilor assured that they will be “much more” than municipal buildings, since basic needs will be metbut it will also be the place where “hope, opportunities and the future” will be generated.
In addition, Sanz stressed that this project “does not entail any cost for municipal coffers”, since The company fully assumes its start-up and its operation, “demonstrating once again its serious, responsible and transparent commitment to Seville”. He also considered that the municipality “firmly believes in a Seville that leaves no one behind, in the supporting role of our brotherhoods and in the need to take advantage of all available resources to improve the lives of our neighbors”.
Finally, the mayor emphasized that “where before there were closed blinds, today there are open doors; where there was a project that failed, today there is a city project”, and extended its thanks to the brotherhood of Rocío de la Macarenato municipal technicians and, above all, to the residents of the neighborhood, “the real protagonists of this space which is now beginning a new stage”.
