The Minister of CGU (Comptroller General of the Union), Vinícius de Carvalho, will defend next Monday (15), during the XI Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, international cooperation to combat the infiltration of organized crime in public institutions.
The minister leaves this Saturday (13) for Doha, Qatar, where he will lead the Brazilian delegation to the event. It is also expected to present Brazilian initiatives on transparency, governance and the fight against corruption, such as the progress of the transparency portal and a resolution, co-authored with Namibia, aimed at combating corruption associated with environmental crimes.
Carvalho will also defend the Brazilian government’s strategy to combat organized crime and argue that, as it is a transnational phenomenon, international coordination is necessary to close the spaces for organizations to operate and prevent the infiltration of organized crime into global public institutions.
More than 180 delegations from countries and international organizations are expected at the conference, which will be held from the 15th to the 19th. The event will also bring together members of the AGU (General Prosecutor’s Office), the Ministry of Justice, Itamaraty, Coaf and the Federal Police, in addition to the TCU (Federal Court of Accounts).
