The National Court has decided to summon witnesses in the “Koldo affair” next January 20 at Patricia Urizthe ex-partner of the former ministerial advisor and who He was already listed as being investigated in the case.
This is a decision of the judge in the case, … the president of the Central Investigating Court Number 2, Ismael Moreno, judicial sources confirmed to Europa Press this Friday.
Dark He calls him to question him in the main case, the one relating to alleged irregularities in the purchase of masks during the pandemic, and not the separate one in which cash payments from the PSOE are under investigation, as specified by the same sources.
Last June, the investigating judge refused to close the investigation against Uriz because there are “rational indications” of a suspected crime of money laundering. Koldo’s ex-partner had requested the provisional file of the investigation against him, alleging that since the start of the investigation his participation could not be provendirectly or indirectly, in the alleged corruption scheme.
Moreno responded that, “although there may be no rational indication of criminality with respect to the offenses of criminal organization, corruption and influence peddling, there is with respect to the offense of money laundering.”
The judge supported this in the opinion of the prosecutionwho reminded him of “police reports on the participation” of Uriz “in maneuvers to hide the illicit origin of the profits obtained by another of the people investigated and his associate”, such as having “requested legal advice” so that a house “was given to Koldo García”.
“Due to the above, at this stage of the procedure, the provisional classification and archiving of the present procedure in relation to that under investigation is not appropriate, without prejudice to what will result from the course and/or progress of the investigation,” he indicated in an order.
His name appears in PSOE payments
Uriz’s name also appears in the report of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard on cash payments made by the PSOE to repay anticipated expenses of former minister José Luis Ábalos, among others.
The investigators highlighted in their report that, based on conversations between Ábalos’ former advisor and his then advisor, “it was corroborated that part of these settlements were given in cash.” thanks to envelopes collected at the PSOE headquarters –in rue Ferraz–”.
In one of the conversations collected by the UCO you can read how Uriz told Koldoin September 2018: “I already have Ferraz’s envelope.” “I’ll take him by car to Balbina and leave him there?” he asked, which, according to the Civil Guard, would be an allusion to “the official residence of Ábalos during his ministerial period, located on Balbina Valverde Street in Madrid.”
Another collected conversation, February 2019, shows that Uriz wrote to him: “Hello Koldo… Finally the boss left without me giving him the money… If you come tomorrow, it’s better, because I don’t like having so much money in the drawer”, he said to him. “I go to Ferraz to pick up the envelope by car and then they take me home.”
In addition, the UCO provided WhatsApp conversations in which Koldo and Uriz narrated. Thus, in June 2019, The former Ábalos advisor asked his wife: “Joseph’s is mine or his.” And she said, “Let me look for a second but I think it’s his.”
