With the new modular platform of the Citroën Basalt, the second generation of the Fiat Fastback will be one of the new products of the Italian brand until 2030 in Brazil
The new generation Fiat Fastback has once again been spotted testing in Europe. This time, the images published by the Carscoops site reveal more details of the interior of the coupe SUV, which will have the same platform as the Grande Panda. Initially launched in Brazil in 2022 based on the Fiat Pulse, the new Fastback will become a global car. It is expected to arrive on the European market in 2026.
The interior will be more refined than that of the Fiat Grande Panda
If on the outside, the new Fastback will have elements borrowed from the Grande Panda, such as mirrors and door handles, we do not see the same thing inside the spotted unit. Instead of the more playful tailgate elements, the second-generation Fiat Fastback will have slimmer air vents and straighter lines, including a strip of leather in the central section of the dashboard.
It will also feature an overhead media center and digital panel. Additionally, the center console will also be taller, with an electronic parking brake and a gear selection joystick. The doors will have a layout similar to that of the dashboard, and different from that of the Grande Panda.
The new Fiat Fastback is almost ready
The next Fastback will have a more upright look compared to the current generation. It will adopt pixelated LED headlights and taillights, following the visual identity presented in Panda-derived concepts last year. However, the new Fiat Fastback will have an exclusive look and will not simply be a derivative of the Grande Panda.
The proportions of the body resemble those of the Citroën Basalt sold in Brazil. However, the entire bodywork will be different. The next Fastback will be built on the Smart Car/CMP architecture, the same one used by the 2008 Peugeot 208, as well as the Citroën C3, Aircross and Basalt.
This platform is modular and can accommodate thermal, hybrid or fully electric engines, allowing adaptations according to each market. In Europe, the new Fiat Panda Fastback should have versions equipped with a 1.2 mild hybrid 48V turbo and electric. In Brazil, Fiat should focus on the current 1.0 turbo flex and 1.3 turbo flex, both equipped with 12V and 48V mild hybrid systems.
The new Fastback will arrive earlier in Europe
In Europe, the new generation of Fastback is expected to arrive in early 2026. For Brazil, the forecast is 2028, because the current model is still new here. The debut is part of Fiat’s plan to launch five new models in the country by 2030, one per year, starting in 2026.
