Madrid, December 6 (European Press) –

The Norwegian Nobel Institute confirmed on Saturday that Venezuelan opposition figure Maria Corina Machado will attend the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony scheduled to be held on December 10 in the Norwegian capital, Oslo.

The head of communications at the Nobel Institute, Eric Asheim, said in statements to Europe Press that it was Machado herself who announced that she would be present in Oslo to receive the award despite the great risk that the competitor would not be able to enter the Latin American country again.

On October 10, the Norwegian committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize to the opposition “for its tireless efforts” to promote rights and freedoms in Venezuela and support a “just and peaceful” transition from “dictatorship to democracy.”

The jury decided that Machado, whom it described as a “figure of unity in the previously divided political opposition,” was “forced to live in hiding” and remains inside Venezuela, “a decision that has inspired millions” of people.
