Amid the strike at Petrobras, the Nord Fluminense Oil Workers Union (Sindipetro-NF) said this Thursday (18) that it had recorded a gas leak on the P-40 platform, in the Campos basin. According to the union, the unit is completely paralyzed due to security measures.
When contacted, Petrobras did not respond until publication. Earlier, the company had indicated, in a note, that emergency teams were mobilized where necessary. Until then, there was no impact on production and market supply remained guaranteed, Petrobras said in a note sent early in the afternoon.
According to Sindipetro, the P-40 incident impacted certain operations in the Campos basin, with the preventive interruption of production. “To date, the union still does not have official information on the volume of gas involved in the leak,” Sindipetro said in a note. “The platform remains stationary with all workers in a safe location, waiting for the gas to disperse. So far, no casualties have been reported.”
The P-40 is a floating production, storage and transfer unit (FPSO). The platform started operating in 2001.
