Four parties with ministers in the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) voted against the dismissal of federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP). In the early hours of this Thursday (12/11), the plenary of the House had 227 votes for and 170 against – at least 257 votes would be needed for impeachment – and parliamentarian Bolsonaro was finally saved.
The Republican, PSD, MDB and PP parties cast 58 votes against the dismissal of Zambelli, a figure which represents 34% of the total votes so that the Bolsonarist deputy does not lose her mandate.
As only 30 votes remained to reach the minimum needed to impeach Zambelli, the “betrayals” of the government parties could have changed the outcome of the House plenary.
The Republicans, led by Minister Silvio Costa Filho (Ports and Airports), were divided and obtained 17 votes against the revocation and 17 for.
The PSD, made up of ministers Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture), Alexandre Silveira (Mines and Energy), André de Paula (Fisheries and Aquaculture), gave 16 votes against the project and 11 for.
The MDB, led by ministers Jader Barbalho Filho (Cities), Simone Tebet (Planning) and Renan Filho (Transport), gave 12 votes against and 15 for.
The PP, led by Minister André Fufuca (Sports), obtained 13 votes against and 24 for. It should be remembered that the PP, chaired by Senator Ciro Nogueira, broke with the Lula government, but Fufuca refused to leave the Ministry of Sports.
All the deputies present in plenary and belonging to the left and center-left parties that make up the Lula government voted in favor of the dismissal of Carla Zambelli. In total, there were 119 votes.
União Brasil, which recently broke with the government, obtained 22 votes against and 21 for.

The CCJ of the Chamber approves the revocation of the mandate of Carla Zambelli
Carla Zambelli affair
The Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) of the Chamber approved this Wednesday (12/10) the opinion which recommends the dismissal of Carla Zambelli. However, the plenary of the House did not obtain the necessary votes to withdraw the mandate of the Bolsonarista deputy.
Zambelli is imprisoned in Italy, where she awaits the extradition process to Brazil. She is already prevented from running for office because she has two convictions totaling 15 years and 3 months in prison.
The parliamentarian was convicted by the Federal Court (STF) for intellectual participation in the invasion of the electronic systems of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), in partnership with the hacker Walter Delgatti. The case concerned the insertion of false documents, such as a fabricated arrest warrant against Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
The other conviction concerns illegal possession of a weapon and illegal coercion, in the episode in which he chased a supporter of the then candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) with a weapon in his hand, on the eve of the second round of the 2022 elections.
