Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), who launched himself as President of the Republic on Friday (5) and threatened to give it up for a price two days later, reversed course this Monday (8) and declared that his electoral project was irreversible. “My candidacy is not for sale,” he declared Leaf.
Flávio’s speeches were valued in the market. On Friday, after this announcement, the stock market recorded its biggest drop since February 2021 and the dollar increased by more than 2%. This Monday, after the threat of withdrawal, the stock market rose again and the dollar ended the day with a slight decline – the close did not capture reactions to the new decline.
Flávio’s proposal as a right-wing candidate in 2026, a choice reportedly made by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), also sparked reactions in the political world. Among the center’s names, the senator is viewed with suspicion. Leaders of different parties also said Leaf that the Bolsonaro family has diminished the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans).
The breakfast this Tuesday (9) discusses what the market expects from politics and its interests for the 2026 elections. Sergio Vale, chief economist at MB Associados, explains after all who this market is and how it values electoral movements.
